New Lead Paint Law

New Lead Paint Law

Data breaches and other types of modern, large-scale cyberattacks have been making headlines for more than a decade, but recently, it seems like organizations in the life sciences and healthcare industry have been taking on more than their fair share. As it turns out, it doesn’t just seem that way – it’s actually happening according to Verizon’s 2017 Data Breach Investigations Report, which states that 15% of these attacks hit healthcare organizations.

Mayor Signs New Lead Paint Law

Mayor Bill de Blasio recently signed Local Law 31 of 2020, which will require that every apartment built prior to 1960 where a child under six years old resides be checked for lead hazards within five years of the law’s effective date by an inspector certified by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). All home improvement contractors will be required to show that they are certified by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to ensure that they are prepared to follow lead-related safety standards.

The law will become effective within 180 days, which will be in August 2020. We will keep you apprised of upcoming developments and requirements.
